05 - 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
06 - Pinch of salt
→ Decoration
07 - 3/4 cup powdered sugar
08 - 2 to 3 tablespoons lemon juice or water
09 - Food coloring (optional)
10 - Decorative ribbons for tying
# Method:
01 - In a bowl, beat the softened butter and granulated sugar together until the mixture is light and fluffy.
02 - Incorporate the egg and vanilla extract, mixing thoroughly until combined.
03 - Gradually add the flour and salt to the wet ingredients, stirring until the dough just comes together.
04 - Form the dough into a disk, wrap in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
05 - Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
06 - Lightly flour a surface and roll the dough to 1/5 inch thickness. Use heart and star-shaped cutters to create cookies, making a small hole near the top of each for threading ribbons.
07 - Arrange the shapes on the baking sheet and bake for 10 to 12 minutes until the edges are lightly golden.
08 - Allow cookies to cool completely on a wire rack before decorating.
09 - Mix powdered sugar with lemon juice or water to form a smooth glaze. Add food coloring if desired.
10 - Spread or pipe the glaze onto cookies as desired and let it set completely.
11 - Thread decorative ribbons through the holes in the cookies and tie into bows for presentation.
