# Expert Advice:

01 -
  • The sweet-salty contrast feels fancy but takes barely more time than a regular sandwich.
  • Once you nail the panini technique, you'll find yourself making this weekly.
  • It's one of those dishes where great ingredients do most of the work for you.
02 -
  • Cold butter won't spread evenly and creates thick spots that don't crisp properly—always soften it first.
  • If your jam is very thick, it won't distribute during pressing; warming it slightly for 10 seconds makes it spreadable without thinning it out.
03 -
  • Softening your butter in the microwave for 8–10 seconds gives you the perfect spreadable consistency without melting it completely.
  • Warming your fig jam slightly before assembly makes it distribute evenly and prevents dry spots in the final sandwich.
