I first made these bars for our annual family Christmas party, and they disappeared within minutes. Everybody loved the chewy texture, bursts of cranberry, and fun colorful sprinkles on top.
Ingredients
- Cookie Base: 1 cup (225 g) unsalted butter softened, 1 cup (200 g) granulated sugar, 1/2 cup (110 g) light brown sugar packed, 2 large eggs, 2 tsp vanilla extract, 2 1/2 cups (315 g) all-purpose flour, 1 tsp baking soda, 1/2 tsp salt
- Festive Mix-ins: 1 cup (175 g) white chocolate chips, 3/4 cup (120 g) dried cranberries, 3/4 cup (90 g) chopped pecans (optional), 1/2 cup (80 g) holiday sprinkles
- Topping: 1/2 cup (90 g) white chocolate chips melted (for drizzling), extra holiday sprinkles
Instructions
- Prep the Pan:
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9x13-inch (23x33 cm) baking pan with parchment paper leaving an overhang for easy removal.
- Cream Butter & Sugars:
- In a large bowl cream together butter granulated sugar and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add Eggs & Vanilla:
- Beat in eggs one at a time then add vanilla extract.
- Combine Dry Ingredients:
- In a separate bowl whisk together flour baking soda and salt. Gradually add to wet ingredients mixing until just combined.
- Fold in Mix-ins:
- Fold in white chocolate chips dried cranberries chopped pecans (if using) and holiday sprinkles.
- Spread & Bake:
- Spread dough evenly into prepared pan smoothing the top. Bake for 28–32 minutes or until edges are golden and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out mostly clean.
- Cool & Decorate:
- Cool completely in pan on wire rack. Drizzle cooled bars with melted white chocolate then scatter extra sprinkles on top.
- Cut & Serve:
- Once the drizzle is set lift bars from pan using parchment overhang and cut into 16 squares.
