Save Sweet, savory, and delightfully aromatic, these Cinnamon Sugar Maple Bourbon Cheddar Biscuit Muffin Skewers offer a unique twist for brunch or any gathering. Tender cheddar biscuit muffins get a golden maple bourbon butter brushing and a dusting of cinnamon sugar that will have your guests reaching for seconds.
I first created these biscuit muffin skewers for a weekend brunch with friends, and they instantly became the centerpiece of our spread. Watching everyone enjoy assembling their skewers made it extra special and memorable.
Ingredients
- Biscuit Muffins: 2 cups all-purpose flour, 1 tablespoon baking powder, 1/2 teaspoon baking soda, 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt, 2 tablespoons granulated sugar, 1/2 cup unsalted butter (cold and cubed), 1 cup sharp cheddar cheese (shredded), 3/4 cup whole milk, 1 large egg
 - Cinnamon Sugar Coating: 1/3 cup granulated sugar, 1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
 - Maple Bourbon Butter: 1/4 cup unsalted butter, 2 tablespoons pure maple syrup, 1 tablespoon bourbon
 - Assembly: 12 wooden skewers, soaked in water (if grilling or baking further)

Instructions
- Prep Muffins:
 - Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Grease a 12-cup muffin tin or line with paper liners.
 - Mix Dry Ingredients:
 - In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and 2 tablespoons sugar.
 - Cut in Butter:
 - Add cold butter cubes. Use a pastry cutter or fingertips to work in until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
 - Add Cheese and Wet Ingredients:
 - Stir in shredded cheddar. Beat milk and egg together, add to dry mix. Gently fold until just combined – do not overmix.
 - Bake Muffins:
 - Divide dough evenly in muffin tin. Bake 16 to 18 minutes, until golden and a toothpick comes out clean. Cool 5 minutes in pan, then move to a wire rack.
 - Prepare Cinnamon Sugar and Maple Butter:
 - Mix sugar and cinnamon in a shallow bowl. In a small saucepan, melt butter, then stir in maple syrup and bourbon. Remove from heat.
 - Coat Muffins:
 - While muffins are warm, brush with maple bourbon butter and roll or sprinkle with cinnamon sugar.
 - Assemble Skewers:
 - Once muffins are cool enough to handle, cut each in half horizontally. Thread 2 to 3 halves on each skewer.
 - Finish:
 - Drizzle extra maple bourbon butter before serving, if desired.

Save My kids loved getting involved with threading the biscuit muffin halves on the skewers, making it an interactive and fun family brunch treat. Everyone had their own creative way to stack and drizzle!
